Greetings from the School Age Class! We just finished up a great month learning all about the rainforest. We discovered the large variety of unique and rare species of plants and animals that live there. A few highlights during the month were when we had guest speakers come in to show us a parrot, cockatiel, and even a tarantula!
At the end of July, our entire class performed a play that the boys and girls wrote and directed themselves entitled “The Great Kapok Tree” (based upon the book by Lynne Cherry). It was narrated by Cheyenne, directed by Zoila and Breana, and it featured Sam as the lead, with the rest of our friends in supporting roles. The play’s theme emphasized the importance of preserving the world’s rainforests.
In August we will be focusing on and following the 2008 Summer Olympics that the city of Beijing, China is hosting. Our class will keep track of the Olympic events as well as learn about the country of China itself. We will even host our very own Great Beginnings Olympics at the end of the month.
Have a fun and safe August!
